Hearing Protection/Custom Earmolds

Exposure to noise is the most common cause of hearing loss. Whether the exposure is over a long period of time or occurs in a brief burst, the damage can be permanent. Fortunately, this is one form of hearing loss that is completely preventable. Let Hear Here Audiology fit you with custom earplugs and earmolds to fit your hearing protection needs and budget.

Custom earmolds

Custom earmolds are made from a mold of your ear, and they perfectly fit the unique shape of your ears. Because of their perfect fit, they provide superior hearing protection and are comfortable for hours of use. If you’re tired of over the counter earplugs, talk to the audiologists at Hear Here Audiology about a custom solution.

You’ll find that custom earmolds are available in a wide range of sizes, colors and types. They may be made from solid material or material that is soft and spongy. Full-shell earmolds are worn in high noise level environments, and half-shell earmolds are worn in mid-level noise environments.

If you need hearing protection in an environment where you still need to communicate verbally, consider a custom earmold fitted with a filtered attenuator. Harmful levels of noise are blocked while you can still hear sound at the conversation level. There are even electronic models that provide amplification of background noise while suppressing damaging decibel levels.

Custom earplugs

Like custom earmolds, custom earplugs are made from a mold of your ear canal. They fit more securely and comfortably than off the shelf earplugs.

Solid earplugs block the highest levels of noise while other earplugs made from alternative materials allow some sound to pass through.

In addition to protecting against noise, custom earplugs can be worn for protection from wind and water. Frequent travelers and graveyard shift workers wear custom earplugs to provide a quiet environment for sleeping.

Musicians earplugs and in-ear monitors

Musicians have very special hearing protection needs. Practices and performances put their hearing at risk, but traditional hearing protection prevents them from hearing the music they create. The answer is a solution developed just for musicians.

Musician’s earplugs stop harmful levels of sound, but they don’t distort the sound that comes through.

In-ear monitors replace stage monitors and allow performers to hear the sound of the audience and their music without dangerous amplification.
